A small, fast-growing root vegetable that comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors—most commonly round or oblong with red skin and white flesh, but also available in pink, purple, black, and green. Radishes have a firm, crunchy bite and a sharp, peppery taste, which becomes milder when cooked. The leafy green tops are also edible and nutritious.
